Overview

It's time to ride the BIG mountains in the highest mountain range in the world - the mighty Himaalaya. Experienced heliski guide Tom Willmott will take you on an amazing adventure in the legendary terrain around Manali, known locally as THE VALLEY OF THE GODS.

This adventure is suitable for seasoned heli-skiers, or advanced powder shredders. You can ride for six full days (weather permitting) and enjoy up to 30,500 vertical metres (100,000+ vertical feet) of incredible skiing/riding (and the opportunity to buy more), with a minimum guarantee of 20,000 vertical metres.

Endless pow turns, steep and deep, air-time, trees, this place has got it all and it's all BIG.

We'll pick you up in Delhi look after all your transfers and internal flights up to Manali. You'll stay in luxury accommodation for 7 nights (including all meals prepared by a private chef) and the heli will pick you up every morning from right in front of the hotel!

Terrain

The powder skiing at Manali is exceptional. The altitude allows much greater “back radiation” than other areas, which creates excellent re-crystallised powder. Manali is known for having one of the deepest snowpacks in the entire Himalaya, and due to the continental climate, snowfalls tend to be of low moisture content. As an added bonus, the potential is vast for terrific, Spring corn-snow skiing!

The skyline in Manali is dominated by 6000+m peaks which provide a stunning backdrop for some of the most fantastic Heliski terrain in the world. High alpine bowls, glaciers, steep couloirs, the Himalaya have it all. Most skiing takes place between high valley floors around 2700 m and ridges at 4700 m, with verticals averaging between 900 m and 1200 m. However, some of our most spectacular terrain is as high as 5000 m which is accessed once acclimatised and makes for some serious long runs! With the tree line at 3500m, there is also epic tree skiing amongst the glades of birch and oak trees.

Accommodation

Fusing modern design with traditional elegance, ManuAllaya is a stylish, contemporary, luxury resort basking in an enviable location in Manali. The resort features spacious rooms, cottages, ample open lawns, an array of dining options, spa, indoor temperature-controlled pool and gym.

Culture

A major difference of skiing in the Indian Himalaya is the colourful history and culture on the doorstep. After an epic day in the heli, take a trip into town to visit the markets, meet the lively locals, checkout ancient villages that appear to be in a time warp and explore the Kullu valley. Long, long ago, before the current age of Kaliyug - the last, “degenerate” age of the world according to Hindu scriptures -Himalaya Parvat (mountain) had a daughter who he named Parvati. After years of meditation and praying, Parvati became the wife of Shiva, the Hindu God of Destruction.

Nowadays, the Parvati river flows from the Himalayas in the modern-day state of Himachal Pradesh. Just to the north of the Parvati is the peaceful town of Manali. The “Valley of the Gods”, where Manali lies, is a mystical land of temples and goddesses; a place where snow leopards prey on the flocks of goats and the gods determine the proper conduct of life. The valley is a place removed from the frenzy of our Western world. Incense, temples, Tibetan monks, exotic curries: these are the après-skiing experiences of the Himalaya.

Add on some travel time either side of your trip and we can arrange tours to visit the Taj Mahal and/or checkout Delhi. Contact us for further information or some amazing trip ideas.
