Day 1 ~ Saturday

Arrive at Olbia airport, Sardinia in the evening. After a transfer to your bungalow Tania will host a meet and greet session and technical induction.

Day 2 ~ Sunday

Training day. Tania will take you to a beautiful local canyon to practice rope skills and give the group a chance to get to know each other in the rugged landscape of the Supramonte di Dorgali. Return to the bungalow for another night and the chance to explore Cala Gonone. You might want to enjoy some local wine, pizza and, of course, some amazing Sardinian gelato. Savour some relative luxury before embarking on your wild adventure.

Day 3 ~ Monday

The day begins with a transfer to Pedra Longa where we begin the trek; the route takes us from Pedra Longa to a bivouac camp close to Porta Pedrosa, 12km distance with 1200m of ascent and descent. Accommodation for the night will be camping under the stars in a small clearing close to rocky inlet of Porta Pedrosa. Weather permitting, a boat will deliver extra supplies and water for us. If the conditions at sea are poor, we may have to carry in our food.

Day 4 ~ Tuesday

From Porta Pedrosa to our camp at Pirreda we will experience local history first-hand, climbing ladders and walking along footpaths made of juniper. Sardinians have engineered this tree, renowned for its hardy nature, for centuries. Along the trail you will see Sardinian shepherd huts, known as 'cuiles' built with juniper wood. Here we will collect additional climbing equipment for the rock climbing and abseiling to come.

Day 5 ~ Wednesday

We will find short sections of climbing, scrambling and some abseiling between Pirreda and our camp at Arco su Felieu. 7.5km distance with 1160m of ascent and descent. A challenging but unforgettable day.

Day 6 ~ Thursday

During the trek from Arco su Felieu to Cala Sisine you will (hopefully) see the local Sardinian mouflon (mountain goats), capable of negotiating even the steepest terrain. Enjoy the incredible turquoise, crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean followed by a locally inspired meal on the beach.

Day 7 ~ Friday

We will enjoy the last 3 hours of trekking to Cala Luna and lunch on the beach followed by a spectacular boat journey out to Cala Gonone and back to your beautiful hotel for a celebration meal and a good rest before returning home.

Day 8 ~ Saturday

We'll drop you back at Olbia airport in the morning for your return home. Or, if you have later flights, you can spend a day relaxing on the beach and enjoying the local heritage, surroundings and food.

Food & Accommodation

The first two night's accommodation are in lovely bungalows set in a beautiful pine forest. Enjoy the relative luxury before your wild trek across unspoiled Mediterranean coastline. The accommodation on the trail includes sleeping in caves, camping on the beach, and sleeping under the stars; you will never forget this experience of a lifetime.

Your last night is spent in a comfortable local hotel so you can return home well rested, with time to reflect on this incredible journey. Other than evening meals at the campsite and at the hotel all food is included. Fresh food is pre-packed for the trail; simple breakfasts, sandwiches made from local produce and evening meals cooked on the stove. We have a support team on hand to drop off food and water by boat along the coast.

As with all inversion adventures, we will contact you after you book to discuss dietary requirements. We cater the food to your needs including vegetarian, vegan or specific intolerances. We'll sort out the food so you can concentrate on enjoying your amazing adventure.

Experience Required

A good head for heights and solid aerobic capacity are the main prerequisites for this trip. The trek is led by our expert IFMGA guide Tania Noakes. She will give full instruction on the climbing and abseiling sections. Experience abseiling and some rock climbing is essential. Some experience of any of the following would be advantageous but not essential; Via ferrata, wild camping and cooking by stove.

Let's be clear, this is a tough trek. Each day we will cover between 7km and 12km in distance however the significant ascent and descent will have the most impact. Rough trails, steep climbing and scree descents all increase the calories burned and fitness level required. Each day you will carry the day's food, water, personal gear and sleeping bags/mats. You will also be expected to carry some group kit too. Your pack could weigh between 10kg and 15kg depending on your equipment.

Mountain stamina is important for this adventure. Successive 6-8 hour days followed by wild camping will test even the hardiest of trekkers, so be prepared..! We'll send you a simple training programme when you book, so you can arrive physically confident.
